Celebrating The Lord Of The Harvest |

|
by Pastor Reuel We praise and thank God for the wonderful time of reflection on God’s goodness and faithfulness to our church during our 20th anniversary banquet which was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Concord last November 21st. As people entered the lobby they were greeted with festive banners, posters of the new building project, and given a professionally made souvenir program designed by Lani Palarca. The hall itself was beautifully decorated by the Concord bible study group to reflect a fall harvest. Close to three hundred attendees, who included past members of the church, were taken on a journey back into time by our outstanding emcees, Beth Picazo and Jon Pagmanua. Among the highlights of the afternoon was an artistically prepared slide show by Ami Gan of our 20 year history which brought tears of joy to many as we marveled at God’s work.
The sentiment of the occasion was majestically captured in a Hawaiian praise dance to “How Great Thou Art,” by Maryann Phillips. The children’s ministry, led by Elisha Salandanan, took part in the celebration by doing hand motions to “Light of a Million Mornings.” The solemn moments were punctuated by humorous games of “Hep, Hep, Hurray,” “FBCV Jeopardy,” and the giving out of exciting door prizes. We were then treated to inspiring original compositions sang by sister Cecile Azarcon-Inocentes, who also led and accompanied “Saved by Grace” ensemble as they rendered their blend of high energy and soul moving songs. In the middle of the program, Pastor Reuel spoke and expressed gratitude for the privilege of pastoring FBCV since its inception. He gave a message on the Plan, Power, and Presentation of the church by God, reminding everyone that all the glory belongs to our Lord. Afterwards, a moving challenge was set forth by the unveiling of the future ministry plans in three dimensional animation also prepared by Ami Gan. Just before pastor Reuel blew out candles on a gorgeous four tiered cake baked by Menchie Jualo, a surprise presentation and heartfelt tribute was given to him by Manny Salazar, a long time friend. Pastor Leo Calica and Pastor Elpidio Estolas gave closing words and prayer. We thank God for a great day which sought to lift His name high. We stand in awe of all that He has done and look with great anticipation at the next twenty years. We thank the anniversary committee for making this a very memorable and uplifting celebration.
